Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration's (SAMHSA's) National Clearinghouse for Alcohol and Drug Information (NCADI) is the Nation's one-stop resource for the most current and comprehensive information about substance abuse prevention and treatment. NCADI is one of the largest Federal clearinghouses, offering more than 500 items to the public, many of which are free of charge. We distribute the latest studies and surveys, guides, videocassettes, and other types of information and materials on substance abuse from various agencies. Over 200 links are searchable by topic.

The Center for Substance Abuse Prevention (CSAP) provides national leadership in the development of policies, programs, and services to prevent the onset of illegal drug use, to prevent underage alcohol and tobacco use, and to reduce the negative consequences of using substances. CSAP is one of three Centers in the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). The other two are the Center for Substance Abuse Treatment (CSAT) and the Center for Mental Health Services (CMHS).

With 14,000 members, NAADAC, The Association for Addiction Professionals is the largest national organization for alcoholism and drug abuse professionals across the country that treats addicted individuals and families. Founded in 1972, NAADAC is committed to increasing general awareness of alcoholism and drug abuse and enhancing care of individuals through treatment, education, and prevention programs. Founded in 1944 by Marty Mann, the first woman to find long-term sobriety in Alcoholics Anonymous, the National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence, Inc. (NCADD) provides education, information, help and hope to the public. It advocates prevention, intervention and treatment through offices in New York and Washington, and a nationwide network of affiliates.

The White House Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP), is a component of the Executive Office of the President and was established by the Anti-Drug Abuse Act of 1988. The principal purpose of ONDCP is to establish policies, priorities, and objectives for the Nation's drug control program. The goals of the program are to reduce illicit drug use, manufacturing, and trafficking, drug-related crime and violence, and drug-related health consequences. To achieve these goals, the Director of ONDCP is charged with producing the National Drug Control Strategy. The Strategy directs the nation's anti-drug efforts and establishes a program, a budget, and guidelines for cooperation among Federal, State, and local entities.

The California Association of Personnel Consultants was initially formed in 1937 as the Southern California Employment Agencies Association and incorporated as a non-profit corporation on February 18, 1947. In 1955, a statewide organization was formally identified and was named the California Employment Agencies Association (CEAA). In 1970, this title was shortened to the California Employment Association (CEA) and was subsequently changed in May 1980 to California Association of Personnel Consultants. In June, 2000, CAPC merged with the California Association of Temporary Staffing Services (CATSS) to form California Staffing Professionals (CSP), in order to better serve the staffing industry in California.
