Types Of Employment History Background Check Info



There are many different types of records that a company or nonprofit organization might include in their preemployment background checks. An employment history background check might include education records, employment records, financial information, licensing records and information from various references. Different jobs, of course, will require different types of pre-employment screening. Background checks all serve the same purpose, though; to avoid negligent hiring liabilities.

Education records including college degrees, graduate degrees and other accredited university degrees can be verified with a pre-employment screening. Background checks can also verify SAT scores, and even include deeper information about performance, activities and accomplishments. An employment history background check may also include financial information, such as credit scores, liens, civil judgments and bankruptcies.

Preemployment background checks often look into licensing records, as well, which may cover personal information, education, complaints, investigations, and disciplinary actions. Employers sometimes wish to get information from their applicant's references during the employment history background check. More intensive preemployment background checks can involve interviews with people that know or previously knew the applicant, such as teachers, friends, coworkers, and family members. There are various companies that do these background screenings, since most businesses and organizations don't have the resources to conduct the investigation on their own.
