Maximising Success With The Right Candidate

In the era of outsourcing of work, especially those that require employees to handle sensitive information such as social security numbers and credit card information, pre employment assessments are essential.

Almost everyone orders online as well as on the phone. Often times, employees of these companies take down sensitive information including credit care number and the four digit security numbers for the cards. Therefore, it is imperative that employees of these companies do not use this information for personal gain. One way to do this is by conducting a person background check.

It is the responsibility of the employer to ensure that employees are dependable and trustworthy. An effective way of doing this is by conducting person background checks. However, an employer needs the authorization of a prospective employee before the information can be obtained.

Background checks cover a wide variety of information regarding the candidate. It encompasses checks on the driver's license, character reference, personal acquaintances, criminal records, education records, court records and credit records. Much of the information that can be obtained through applicant screening is regulated by the Fair Credit Reporting Agency.

It is easier for an employer to recruit the services of an employment screening company to conduct background and criminal checks. This will save the employer a lot of time from having to review the different acts and working according to them.

The money spent on hiring the services of a employment screening company is very small when compared to the price that an employer may have to pay by hiring the wrong employee. The hiring screening also reduces occurrences of employee theft.

Under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), not all background information can be used in hiring screening. Information including that relating to bankruptcy cannot be used by an employer after a certain length of time.

Conducting an employee screening test takes around 48 hours. However, the time taken depends on the number of screenings requested by the employer.

All employers need signed authorization before they can conduct a background check. In case, employers use any information obtained from the reports against the candidate, the individual needs to be informed of this as well as handed a copy of the document.
