Consistent Preemployment Background Checks
Employment criminal background checks are often one of the first types of investigations that are performed when hiring a new staff member. Many companies also conduct an employment history background check to investigate the experiences that previous employers have had with the individual in question.
Other types of preemployment background checks include driving tests and social security records checks. All of these checks help to determine if an applicant is a safe choice for the job. One of the most important reasons to do employment criminal background checks is to find information from the national sex offender registry, which often does not appear in a traditional criminal background report. If the applicant offended in a state outside his or her residence the criminal search would not likely reveal this information. Companies that provide preemployment background checks can do a thorough search of all the necessary databases, though. They can also do an employment history background check and perform all the other necessary investigations for one low price. Besides employment criminal background checks, it's also important to do a state motor vehicle report whenever the position involves driving in any capacity.
These types of preemployment background checks provide valuable information including validity and violations, suspensions, or DUI related offenses. It's critical to at least obtain a state issued identification card and perform a search of this identification number. When doing any type of preemployment background checks, it's very important to be consistent with every applicant in the hiring process. All applicants should be screened in the same manner, and not only the ones that give you a "gut feeling." That would be considered an unfair hiring practice in the eyes of the law. Employment criminal background checks can save a company from huge potential losses, but only if they are performed on every single person that is hired.
